When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Your data will be shared with our payment processor (PayPal) where you are making a donation or subscribing to a membership. In some cases we are required by law to share data with the Electoral Commission. We are required to report details of income and expenditure and we will report these to the Electoral Commission.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Financial records (donations, memberships, etc) are retained in line with current UK law.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Our site is only accessible via a secure (HTTPS) connection and sorted on servers within the UK. The site infrastructure is managed by Ionos and the website is managed by Hampshire Independents. The Ionos data centre is based in London and is ISO 27001 certified. We use automated technology to identify attempted breaches and alert our admin team, accounts are automatically locked after a number of failed authentication attempts. We have a policy on installing software patches as soon as possible via our admin team. The data is held on the CiviCRM system which is only accessible to a limited number of party officers. Backups are taken daily of our site and email systems, these are held off site for 10 days.

Notification – Any data breach should be reported to the party officers via email or telephone. Automatic intrusion detection software installed on the website will notify the party officers of any suspicious activity.

Once notified the party offices (with relevant technical skill) will investigate the incident. Multiple officers have access to the web server logs and all party officers have access to the audit information recorded on the website. Should a data breach be confirmed by the party officers the scope of the data breach will be identified. The party officers will contact the effected individuals, informed them of the data breach and what information has been lost or compromised. The party officers will notify the Office of the Information Commissioner should they believe this to be required under UK data protection law.

We may receive data from the Electoral Commission, unless required this will be held outside of our website.

We do not make any automated decisions based on the data provided. We may profile data to understand the level of support for certain issues or to understand the popularity of our policies.
