We want the council to be more involved with the provision of social housing. The local councils are key in a joined-up approach to ensuring the vulnerable are looked after.

Brownfield first

We want priority to be given to brownfield developments and other low impact sites. We need more housing, but we need countryside too.

Predictable growth

We want house building to roughly track population change. We should build extra houses roughly in line with yearly population growth.

The Council is key

The council is key to safe and effective social housing. We want councils to have more power with disrupting bad landlords, but to also allow more freedoms to good landlords with a proven track record. The council can play a vital role in joined up working with police, welfare services and landlords to help keep people off the streets.
